Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has won the majority of seats in the next parliament, according to results released by the Elections Boss Mohamed Konneh on Saturday 1st July.
Based on the calculations of the Proportional Representation system and also the political parties making the 11.9 threshold, the incumbent SLPP will be presenting 81 members in parliament to be sworn in, while the APC will be putting forward 54 members.
The SLPP missed out on not getting even a single seat in the Northern district of Bombali, with the APC taking all 8 seats. On the other hand the APC lost out in five districts, namely Kailahun, Kenema, Bo, Bonthe and Pujehun. Together all of these seats totalled 46 seats.
