Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Sierra Leone takes a leap onto the global stage as Herbert B. Bangura, a distinguished young Peace-Builder, secures a spot on the esteemed US States Department Community Solutions Program Alumni Board. This remarkable achievement places Bangura among twelve exceptional individuals from diverse corners of the world, collectively elected to serve on the board for a two-year term.
Recognized for his profound commitment to peace-building, Bangura currently holds the esteemed positions of Regional Speaker of the Mano River Union Youth Parliament, Executive Director of the Young Peace Builders Network, and Global Youth Climate Ambassador.
Devoting his career trajectory to addressing complex human challenges through peace-building and development solutions, Bangura shared, “I have dedicated years to mastering institutional development, international policy dynamics in addressing societal issues, and empowering youth in developing, transitioning, and post-conflict societies.”
His impactful initiatives have extended beyond Sierra Leone’s borders, empowering young individuals and amplifying the spirit of peace-building. Notably, Bangura played a pivotal role in post-Ebola reconstruction, aiding in the integration of victims back into society. He also made significant contributions to sports for peace, film, and music projects.
Expressing his gratitude for the transformative opportunities offered by the US States Department Community Solutions Program, Bangura emphasized that “Community Solutions participants are emerging global community leaders tackling some of today’s most complex issues.” He acknowledged the program’s positive impact on numerous Sierra Leoneans and himself, citing it as a testament to the effectiveness of such exchange initiatives.
The Community Solutions Program, known for nurturing the brightest community leaders worldwide, aims to cultivate ambassadors of mutual understanding while addressing intricate economic, environmental, political, and social challenges. The program not only empowers its participants but also strengthens partnerships between U.S. organizations and international professionals.
Bangura’s election to the CSP Alumni Board, a voluntary role, reflects his commitment to exemplary leadership and community-building. His responsibilities include attending monthly board meetings, gathering alumni success stories and updates, advocating for the interests of the CSP alumni community, fostering cross-cohort networking, and promoting alumni achievements.
Bangura’s elevation to this prestigious position is a resounding endorsement of his dedication to fostering safer communities, promoting peaceful coexistence, and advocating for human rights. He acknowledges the challenges ahead but vows to contribute his utmost to achieving the goals of the alumni network and the Community Solutions Program.
