Sierra Leone Squash Racket Association (SLSRA) will hold a two-day President Cup squash competition, at the Armed Forces Squash Club at Wilberforce, on 27 & 28th June.
According to the President of the association, Umaru Kakay, the competition will be sponsored by Mercury International and during the 2-day competition, they are going to have several categories that will compete.
He stated that during the opening ceremony, President Ernest Bai Koroma will declare the tournament open but before that several personalities will make statements, like Samir Hassanyeh on behalf of the sponsors Mercury International.
On the final day which is on Saturday 28th June, winners of several categories will receive cash prizes and certificates.
Also Kakay says that he and his executive are determined to take squash to a higher level in sports in Sierra Leone.
He explained that this is the reason why they are encouraging schools to get involved with playing squash and that very soon the sport will grow and take centre stage.
Already, plans are well underway to take the sport to the Commonwealth Games with the Chairman Umaru Kakay leading two top players, including one professional playing in Turkey to the Games.
