6Member of Parliament for Constituency 035 in Bombali District has returned home following a trip to the United States of America (USA) where he struck partnership with Freedom Farm Ministries (FFM), a Christian organisation that provides a way out for men and women addicted to drug and alcohol.
During Hon. Turay’s trip he held discussions with FFM and was able to reach agreement with them to replicate their operations in Sierra Leone, where drug and alcohol addiction is high among the youth.
According to Hon. Turay bringing such a program to Sierra Leone will minimize the high rate of drug and alcohol addiction, which is said to be among the major causes of delirium and insanity among the youth.
FFM also intends to set up a Christian Rehabilitation Centre to serve as Safe Homes for men in need of psychotherapeutic treatments.
As a show of commitment to operate in Sierra Leone, Hon. Thomas B. Turay secured from FFM a container-loaded of agricultural equipment, machinery and varied agricultural inputs. He said these will be deployed in support of agricultural development in his constituency.
Freedom Farm Ministries was started in 2006 with the mission to save men and women trapped by drugs and alcohol through the healing power of Jesus Christ.
Freedom Farm Ministries also offers Christian Drug and Alcohol recovery program in a safe, rural environment to demonstrate how Jesus Christ can and will free men from the bondage of chemical addiction with a continuing restoration program that provides men a structured transition from a recovery program to a new life within the world.
The beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina are home to Freedom Farm Ministries. Currently, there is one refuge location, Safe House, and four transitional living units, Discipleship Living Centres. Restoration House, the Christ-centred recovery phase of Freedom Farm Ministries, expanded to two facilities in 2010.
Just like the early church, Freedom Farm Ministries is a community where openness and honesty are valued; sharing is practiced, and study of Scripture forms the basis for decisions individually and collectively.
Hon. Turay said Pastor Samuel Shyllon is expected to lead the operation of Freedom Farm Ministries within the next couple of months.
Hon. Turay’s trip abroad took him to Montreux in Switzerland, to Rome in Italy, to Cincinnati, Ohio in the USA, where he was awarded a certificate of excellence. In Cincinnati, he made lots of friends who are now with the interest to come to Sierra Leone to help promote the Agenda for Prosperity.
