President Xi said we must “pool powerful strength to advance reform and development, and overcome various risks and challenges… We have strong determination, firm will and solid national strength to deal with these challenges. We have sufficient confidence, ability and wisdom to overcome all kinds of risks and tests. No country or individual can stop the historical pace of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.”
The Chinese Dream today as portrayed speaks of a changing China that is discovering consumerism, that is increasingly globalised, and also at a crossroads. Will her path in years to come continue to be one that resembles that of Western countries with all the benefits of further urbanization, wealth, and industrialization, but at the same time challenges in managing scarce resources, population migration, and the social problems that affluence can bring.
Today, more than ever before, China is closer to, more confident of, and more capable of making the goal of national rejuvenation a reality. I believe that as long as all the Chinese people keep carrying forward this spirit of dreams, they can and will realize the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
To realize national rejuvenation, China must advance with the times, and keep pressing forward. As their ancestors said, “If you can improve yourself in a day, do so each day, forever building on improvement.”
Hard work paints a bright backdrop for a young life. As Mao Zedong said, “Should I have 200 years to spare, I will surely swim for 1,500 km.” The mission of national rejuvenation must be achieved through hard work, as must the ideals of life. Without an arduous popular struggle, carried out especially by generations of young people, there would have been neither the present new era of Chinese socialism nor a future in which they will realize national rejuvenation.
The rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will be no easy task. It will not be achieved by simply beating drums and gongs. They cannot overcome all the risks and challenges they face on the way forward without a true fighting spirit.
China’s past made its mark on human history; China’s present is being created by the hands of hundreds of millions of Chinese people; China’s future will be even brighter. All members of the Party, the armed forces and the people of all ethnic groups should unite closer, stay true to their original aspiration and founding mission, and continue to consolidate and develop their People’s Republic. They should continue to enhance their efforts to achieve the two centenary goals and to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
President Xi Jinping averred recently that China’s socialist system demonstrates great strength and vitality, and the Chinese people and the Chinese nation embrace brilliant prospects.
“Our Party shows strong, firm and vibrant leadership. Living in such a great era, we are all the more confident and proud, and also feel the heavy weight of responsibility upon us.”
Xi said it has been 96 years since the CPC was founded, 68 years since the People’s Republic of China was established, and 39 years since reform and opening up began.
71 years ago, the CPC united and led the Chinese people and the Chinese nation in ending “once and for all” the miserable plight of old China, which had been bullied by foreign aggressors following the Opium War of 1840, and in walking completely out of poverty and weakness.
Xi called on CPC members to study, observe, apply and uphold the Party Constitution, and closely follow the CPC Central Committee in thinking, political orientation and actions.
“In our Party, each and every one of us must always breathe the same breath as the people, share the same future, and stay truly connected to them. The aspirations of the people to live a better life must always be the focus of our efforts. We must keep on striving with endless energy toward the great goal of national rejuvenation.”

President Xi said that China would “unswervingly take the road of peaceful development and remain a builder of world peace, a contributor to global development and a defender of the international order.”
Pointing out that peace has been universally aspired after and pursued by human society, peace and development had become themes of the times, but countries still faced increasingly complex security threats and the lingering threat of war.
“The Chinese nation loves peace and the Chinese people know well the value of peace.”
Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged efforts to comprehensively promote the implementation of the Peaceful China initiative.
Efforts should be made to constantly enhance people’s sense of fulfillment, happiness and security. Greater focus on prominent problems affecting national security, social stability and people’s tranquility on the basis of pursuing collaboration, participation and common interests are need for the rejuvenation of the Chinese people.
China is making effort to make the implementation of the initiative more scientific, and raise its levels of public participation, rule of law and intelligence.
China will further improve the quality of people’s lives and the level of social construction, according to the full text of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee’s development proposals released recently.
The Party leadership’s proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives through the year 2035 were adopted at the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.
The country will optimize the basic public service system, improve the social governance system based on collaboration, participation and common interests, solidly promote common prosperity and make steady progress towards enhancing people’s sense of gain, happiness and security, and promote all-round human development and social progress across the board.
China will uphold the distribution system whereby distribution according to labor is dominant and a variety of other modes of distribution exist alongside it, raise the proportion of labor remuneration in the primary distribution, improve the salary system and the mechanism for reasonable salary growth, strive to increase the income of low-income group and expand the middle-income group.
To strengthen the employment-first policy, China will make every effort to stabilize and expand employment, focus on promoting employment in economic development, expand employment capacity, improve employment quality, promote full employment, and protect the benefits and rights of workers and the country will build a high-quality education system, the document says.
The country will adhere to the principle of public welfare in education, deepen educational reform, promotes fairness in education and the balanced and integrated development of compulsory education in rural and urban areas.
China will also improve the quality of higher education, build world-class universities and world-class disciplines in different categories, and speed up the training of talents in short supply in science, engineering, agriculture and medicine.
They will also improve its fair, unified and sustainable multi-tiered social security system that covers the entire population in both urban and rural areas.
The country will give strategic priority to ensuring people’s health, adhere to the principle of putting prevention first, deepen the implementation of the Healthy China Initiative, improve national health promotion policies, build a strong national public health protection net, and provide people with comprehensive, lifecycle services.
China will implement the national strategy for actively responding to an aging population and create new and better ways to conduct social governance, it added.
Building a strong public health system to provide a guarantee for safeguarding the people’s health will be crucial to the growth of China.
The people’s security is the cornerstone of national security and a strong guarantee for safeguarding the people’s health can only be ensured by developing a strong public health system, improving the early warning and response mechanisms, comprehensively enhancing the capacity for prevention, control and treatment, and building a strong and solid protection network.
China after the infection of covid are now reforming the disease prevention and control system which serves as an important guarantee for protecting the people’s health and public health security as well as maintaining economic and social stability.
It is imperative to boost the early-stage epidemic monitoring and warning capacity to improve the public health system, and efforts are needed to improve the treatment system for major epidemics.
“Major advances in science and technology concerning people’s life and safety and bio-security are of paramount importance for the country and they must be kept in our own hands,” Xi said.
Upholding the principle that mankind is a community with a shared future, China stands ready to continue sharing information and experience with the international partners and strengthening cooperation in such areas as epidemic prevention and control, treatment of patients, and vaccine research and development, so as to jointly protect the health and well-being of people not only in China but in the rest of the world.
China highly values the development of China and the rest of the world, and is willing to work with them to deepen all-round strategic partnership and promote the development of multilateralism.
