FREETOWN, Sierra Leone – The Technical Team of Cricket Sierra Leone revealed the final 14-player squad of Ladies Patriots over the weekend, set to embark on a journey to Nigeria for the Women’s T20i Invitational Tournament. The selection process concluded after two trial matches, first against the Mercy Ship combined Cricket team on Saturday, February 17, 2024, and the U-17 Boys on Monday, February 19, 2024.
In the encounter with the Mercy Ship combined team, Lady Patriots emerged victorious with a 16-run lead in a match where the opposing team featured both male and female players. Following this, on Monday, the female Patriots engaged in a friendly match against the U-17 Boys. The U-17 Boys posted a total of 127 runs, while the female team responded with 98 runs, resulting in a 29-run victory for the U-17 Boys.
The selected female team is set to depart for Nigeria on Friday, February 23, 2024, to participate in the 4 Nations Women T20 International Tournament. The delegation will bid farewell to the Sports Ministry and the National Olympic Committee/Commonwealth Games Association of Sierra Leone (NOC/CGA-SLE) on Thursday.
A split departure plan is in place, with part of the delegation heading to Lungi to board ASKY Airline on Friday morning, while the remaining members will travel on Friday night via Air Peace Airline.
The final list of the 14 players includes Fatmata Parkinson (Captain), Aminata Kamara, Zainab Kamara, Ann Marie Kamara, Linda Bull, Celina Bull, Marie Turay, Theresa B Tommy, Ramatu Turay, Hassanatu Sawaneh, Fatu Pessima, Alice Fillie, Janet Kowa, and Jane Newland. The reserve player is Patricia Pratt.
