An International Non-Governmental Organization, CARE-Sierra Leone has donated three (3) Motor Bikes and one (1) Generator to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS), to be used by Sports Officials in the provinces.
The donation came after the completion of the CORAD-LINKS projects which gave an opportunity for collaboration between the youth division and the local council.
The Country Director of CARE-Brian Larson recalled that in 2006 a memorandum of understanding was signed for the implementation of Youth Development activities in Kailahun, Kono and Koinadugu Districts for promoting linkages for livelihood security and economic development
He noted that the bikes should be used by officials working in the project.
The Deputy Minister (1) in the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports, Dr Alghassimu Jah expressed gratitude to CARE for the donation and registered the commitment of government to promote Youth Development activities within the framework of the national development plan.
He also noted that the Ministry is spearheading the establishment of the National Youth Commission as a key strategy for promoting youth empowerment.
