Zain Sierra Leone the leading mobile Telecommunication Company in the country over the weekend identified itself with survivors and bereaved families of the recent boat disaster between Shenge and Tombo by donating a consignment of relief items to victims and bereaved families at the Shenge Court Barray. The donated items include 30 bags of rice, 50 gallons of cooking oil, 5 bags of onions, cartoons of salt, packets of Jumbo Maggi and 5 cartoons of tomato paste. The relief items were handed over to the Disaster, Management Committee at Shenge in the presence of relevant stakeholders in the area.
Chairman of the handing over ceremony Thomas Caulker expressed thanks and gratitude to the management of Zain for the timely donation of the items on behalf of survivors and the bereaved families adding that it has brought hope to them. He said “Zain network is wonderful in connecting people” and assured that the donated items will reach the target beneficiaries. Francis Minah of the Corporate Affairs Department at Zain explained the rationale behind the donation and stated: “Zain is in sympathy with the Shenge people because they are our customers and partners”.
Minah consoled the bereaved families and said the donation forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibilities in identifying with loyalist of the Zain brand.
The Acting Managing Director Keith Tukei in a brief statement said Zain is prepared to identify with their customers during times of trouble and happiness saying “let the people be confident that all is not lost.” After handing over the items the acting MD-expressed sympathy to the bereaved families on behalf of Zain management and wished the departed souls to rest in perfect peace. One of the bereaved families expressed thanks and appreciation to Zain for the donation and appealed to other humanitarian organizations to emulate the good example of Zain.
