A two day youth leadership training workshop on responsible leadership sporting activities and the use of drugs and alcohol organized by the Ministry of Youths and Sports in collaboration with the Kenema City Council for youths in the six zones in kenema has taken place at the Ministry of Youths and sport office in Kenema city.
In his opening remarks the chairman of the occasion who is also the Regional officer in the Ministry of Youths and Sports Mark Sesay described the training as historic adding that now that politics is over every one should now focus on development activities.
He assured the participants that the new government will put more attention on youth empowerment.
Mark Sesay said the training would help the youth to know their roles as youth leaders.
In his contribution Gibrila Kaikai called on the youth to change their attitude for a better future for Sierra Leone.
He appealed to the youths to disseminate the knowledge they gained from the workshop adding that peace is wealth.
The Youth Sport committee chairman in the Kenema City Council Councilor Mark Gbondo said the country will not forge ahead in terms of development without a change of attitude especially on the side of the youth.
He said as responsible people the youth should have a good vision for themselves and the country.
The Chairman of the Kenema district youth coalition Samai K. Alieu thanked the organizers for undertaking this first venture saying that if the youth come together they will know how to live together as one family.
A facilitator Ibrahim Jabbie stated that the development of any nation lies in the hand of the youth as they contribute the bulk of the population in the country and therefore called on them to put Sierra Leone on a good footing.
