The Kenema Youth Coalition in partnership with Youth Alliance for Peace and Development has concluded a workshop to popularize the three gender acts that was passed by the then SLPP government at the sports club hall along Mahei Vangahun road in Kenema.
Speaking at the ceremony the Chairman Kenema Youth Coalition Emmanuel Farma informed his audience that the training will help the 30 participants from four chiefdoms within the Kenema District to know about their responsibilities and rights.
Mr. Emmanuel Farma disclosed that many violations are taking place with women within the communities adding that there was need to provide the women more especially those in the rural areas with the basic knowledge on the gender Acts that has been passed in parliament which he noted will help reduce gender based violence within our communities. The Kenema Youth Coalition chairman noted that the three-gender Acts needed to be implemented by the ruling government so that women will come out in their numbers and be empowered to contribute towards the development of the nation. He said the Youth Coalition in Kenema has the responsibility to advocate for colleague youths and empower them to take part in development programs in the country.
