The Minister of Youth Employment and Sports Paul Kamara is expected to meet with all the 25 Sporting Disciplines supervised by the National Sports Council (NSC).
The meeting will be held at the National Stadium Atlantic hall and every sporting discipline attending the meeting is expected to take along four Executive Members each which comprises of the President, Secretary General, Treasurer/Financial Secretary and the Public Relation Officers. It is also expected that during the meeting the Minister is going to look into very important issues for the development of sports in the country.
Also in another development the retired Football heroes have paid a courtesy call on Paul Kamara at his Bishop House Office at the National Stadium in Freetown.
The Chairman of the Football Heroes, Umaru Deen Sesay said the retired heroes congratulated the Minister Paul Kamara on his new appointment and urged him to use his good office to change the ugly situation in the sporting discipline especially football.
He also stated that they the retired Football Heroes are not being respected by those running football in the country.
Umaru Deen Sesay went further to appeal to the Minister to support them so that they will live a better life before their death.In response the Minister Paul Kamara said that the retired Football Heroes must be respected as they had played for the country without being paid as is the case today. He stressed that they must be honored as patriots.
The Minister further stated that he was appointed by President Ernest Bai Koroma for a positive change and he is going to introduce a system that the retired Football Heroes should have a stake in the game and his first step is to clean all the sporting disciplines.
