Youth Action International (YAI), an American based organisation, has appealed to youth and women to refrain from violence during and after the presidential run-off.
A statement issued by YAI notes that, “[YAI] condemns the recent spate of political violence across the country that saw young people being used by politicians to antagonise their opponents.
The release further condemns any act of violence instigated by political leaders and their supporters, which could derail the hard earned peace the country now enjoys.
YAI calls on all Sierra Leonean youth to say no to violence, and reminds Sierra Leoneans of their civic responsibility to be law abiding and be peaceful as they choose their leaders by means of casting ballot, not bullets.
