Hon Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh has been sworn by President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma to act as Chief Justice of Sierra Leone.
The substantive Chief Justice, Hon Dr Ade Renner Thomas, has proceeded on his accumulated annual vacation leave, a release from State House states.
Hon Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh will be the first woman serving as Chief Justice of Sierra Leone. Before her appointment, she was Supreme Court Judge after her long service at the Law Officers’ Department rising from state counsel to senior state counsel.
Even when her colleagues went on other lucrative practices, Hon Justice Umu Tejan Jalloh stayed to serve the state in various capacities as High Court Judge in Makeni, Appeals Court Judge onto Supreme Court judge.
Also, the release states that President Koroma has nominated Charles Campbell as chairman board of Directors, National Revenue Authority and Dr Bob Conteh, Melvin J. Tucker and Amadu Koroma to serve as Directors National Revenue Authority. Mr Nathaniel Cole is also appointed as Management and Operations Adviser.
The other ex-officio directors are the financial secretary, Governor Bank of Sierra Leone, representatives of the Sierra Leone Labour Congress and Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
