Increase in the use of Witch gun has reportedly caused an alarming death toll among villagers in the Gulama Mende Chiefdom in the Kenema district as a result of an organized witch gun war fare in towns including Mondaema, Badga and Tongi.
Recent victims of the witch gun war fare include late Idrissa Adamou Nyandaemu Nyamoneh and Puawui who met their untimely death after being shot at by witch gun. They were allegedly shot in the head while others sustained injuries on their back leaving victims to vomit and die. According to villagers who spoke to our Southern Region Correspondent most of the victims were shot at the neck and died vomiting while one Botou was shot after visiting his father in the chiefdom, the villagers said even the chiefdom speaker was shot at by a witch gun and is currently receiving treatment. There has been no definite call on the ongoing witch gun that is reportedly killing people in the Gulama Mende Chiefdom which have sent a lot of youths out of the area and there are also fears over the rampant killing that is going on unabated. Concern residents say the political dispensation in the chiefdom have divided chiefdom authorities to fight each other which has been largely blamed for the under development of the chiefdom and is posing threat that has the tendency to divide the chiefdom apart.
