In the ongoing premier league played over the weekend, Old Edwardians on Sunday at the National Stadium defeated Central Parade (Cenegal) by a lone goal scored by Peter Dumbuya midway in the second half to give Old Edwardians their second victory in the league.
That defeat for Central Parade did not go down well with coach Musa Kallon who was celebrating his birthday that day.
Now both teams have seven points out of four matches and Golf Leopards who were regarded as underdogs played to goalless draw with FC Kallon.
Kallon FC now have two points from two matches played and Golf Leopards have three points to their credit out of three matches.
The other match between East End Lions and Golden Dragons was exciting as both teams put up brilliant performances. Lions went into the lead in the fourth minutes of play when Abacha wasted no time in misplacing the goalkeeper.
About five minutes later Amidu Conteh (Magic) increased the scoreline to two after receiving a pass from Abacha. After the two goals, Lions were on top of the situation and in the 25 minutes they made it three nil. And they became more confident to increase the scoreline.
Golden Dragons’ consolation goal came in the 35 minutes of play from Amidu Kamara who was very fast to reach the ball first before goalie Fish Ball and he wasted no time to reduce the scoreline.
The goal put the Golden Dragons back into the match and about 30 seconds they got the second goal from Yusuf Kanu. After that goal the match became evenly balanced until the end of the first half.
Golden Dragons came into the second half more composed looking for the equalizer which never materialized.
That match gave Lions their first win from three matches.
In Kono, Ports Authority battered Diamond Stars by three goals to nil to secure their first victory in the league. Mohamed Buba Kamara accounted for two of the goals and Alieu Kargbo (Tokoei) for the other.
The league continues this weekend in different venue.
