Wife stabs husband in Kenema District

According to the Head of the Family Support Unit Esther Kamara of the Kenema Police Division 19 year old Yatta Lukulay of Potehun village in the Nongowa chiefdom in the Kenema district is in police custody while the husband Mohamed Amid Conteh alias Sheik is hospitalized.
According to the story Sheik Mohamed Amid Conteh is a power saw worker married in Freetown with four children. He came to Potehun village in the Nongowa chiefdom to work. He has been in the village for several months when he fell in love with one Yatta Lukulay of Gangama village about seven miles from Potehun Yatta came to Potehun to visit her Aunt.
Mr. Conteh at one time took Yatta to her parents at Gangama village to get her to marry him, but when they went another husband surfaced and Mr. Conteh then withdrew his intention to marry her saying he does not want to involve in a conflict with his colleague for a woman.
He then returned to Potehun while Yatta returned to Gangama village to her formal husband and Sheik Conteh later traveled to Freetown to his family.
He took some time in Freetown and then returned to Potehun village. When Yatta got the information she came to Potehun and told him that she has divorced her previous husband and that they should go ahead with their love affairs and Sheik Conteh accepted.
Their love relationship became sour when on Friday July 4, 2008 Yatta took the kettle and went with it to toilet. Upon her return Sheik told her in strong terms not to use the said kettle to go to the toilet any more as he uses it to perform ablution before offering his prayer.
Yatta however vowed to use it any time she is ready to go to toilet.
A quarrel ensued between them and the husband said the girl does not respect elders and also uses abusive language in the village. Sheik was later using the kettle performing ablution when Yatta came and kicked it and then later entered into their bedroom. Sheik Conteh who complained of pains resulting from an accident with the said hand that was holding the kettle.
He then entered the room and went into a fist fight with Yatta beating her mercilessly. In the process Yatta took a knife and stabbed him on his left side, Sheik Conteh then shouted for help and started bleeding.
Neighbours in the village came to the scene and took them to the chief of the village who referred them to the Hangha police post. Sheik was then taken to a nurse at Hangha who gave him some medical treatment and the matter was immediately transferred to the police headquarters in Kenema.
Upon arrival in Kenema Sheik was immediately referred to the government hospital while Yatta was remanded in police detention.  Yatta too explained that the man took her into their room and closed it while he beat her mercilessly, and she too in defense grabbed the knife that was on the table and stabbed him on his side.   
The police have charged the latest matter involving Yatta to court.
