There is an on-going dispute between the Kenema District Football Association (KDFA) and the Kenema City Council over the ownership of the district town field.
In a bid to settle the dispute, the Regional Local Government Secretary, Alderine Ngevao, has written a letter to the Kenema District Football Association (KDFA) and the Kenema City Council drawing their attention to the new local government Act, which states that all public recreational facilities should now be controlled by the councils; and as a result, the Kenema Town Field falls within this act.
The President of Kenema District Football Association (KDFA), Honorable George Soriba opined that as far as they were concerned, they would not go by the decision as there was no justification.
He stressed that the association is responsible for football in the Kenema District and that the field has been under their control for decades.
The Council Authorities have not reacted to this and the dispute remains unsettled.
