The programme Manger for Welbodi Clinic Sierra Leone Jennifer Thomas has commended Heineken International for funding the ultra modern parental screening equipment to detect complications amongst pregnant women and their unborn babies.
The programme manager said “Heineken International is one the development oriented companies that is committed and determined to seek the welfare of women in Africa” adding that the equipment will assist several women suffering from complicated health cases to be screened for an affordable fee.
She said “women in Sierra Leone will benefit from the equipment as there are dedicated staffs that are willing to work to save the lives of vulnerable women particularly pregnant women and new born babies.”
Responding, the Director of Heineken Africa Foundation Katinka Van Cranenborgh said the Well Woman Clinic in Freetown will use the equipment to diagnose complications to make referrals to specialists for treatment. She also said that Heineken Africa Foundation was created in 2008 by Heineken International a subsidiary of the Sierra Leone Brewery Limited to support projects that addresses the needs of society where the company operates. The Director of Heineken Africa Foundation Katinka Van Cranenborgh noted that the Heineken International Health Affairs Team based in Amsterdam is working to ensure the health and safety of its employees and their family members.
She added that improving health care delivery is a priority to Heineken International Africa foundation as the donation is worth over USD$50,000 .
