The head coach of the National Weightlifting Association Sonny Johnson has boosted the Tombo Weightlifting Association by donating a squatting Rag to the association.
He made this donation after the maiden edition of the master peninsular Weightlifting competitions in Waterloo and Tombo.
Coach Sonny Johnson said that the event attracted Weightlifters from Kent, Tokeh, Mama Beach, Bureh Beach, and host of other communities.
He also disclosed that about 33 Weightlifters took part in the competition with 10 Weightlifters coming from Freetown and the other 23 Weightlifters coming from the Peninsular.
The Vice President of the association Tony Songhai who also witnessed the competition said that the competition was organized to spot talents that would be representing Sierra Leone in International competition.
He also disclosed to Awoko Sports that they would have a national competition this year at the National Stadium where they are going to select the best-Lifters in the country – so this maiden competition will serve as preparation for the national competition.
Some of the winners during the competition are Ismail Mansaray, Muctarr Jobe, Sulaiman Kamara, Abubakarr Kamara and host of other winners.
