He lauded President Bio for his leadership style and assured that the opposition’s role is not only to support the government but also to hold it accountable in the interest of democracy and development.
President Bio, responding to the courtesy visit, expressed gratitude to the members of Parliament for their condemnation of the failed coup attempt. As a politician and a citizen, he emphasized the importance of “dialogue in politics.” The President highlighted the need to learn from each other and address differences prudently, all in the pursuit of maintaining peace and tranquillity in the country.
On the “X” handle of the Presidency Sierra Leone was written “The meeting provided the platform to advance discussions aimed at promoting #peace, #security, national cohesion, #economicdevelopment and social progress. Discussions also centred on the Peace Agreement that was signed between the ruling #SLPP Government and the main opposition APC towards resolving the post-election impasse between the Parties as well as the November 26th 2023 failed coup attempt. @PresidentBio assured the delegation of his commitment to the peace pact, while also reiterating his unwavering resolve to promote the rule of law and national cohesion in #SierraLeone.”
