The Dilapidated Peninsular Road

The people of Goderich have said that they voted against SLPP because of the bad state of the Peninsula road. Speaking to some of the inhabitants at Goderich on Wednesday, most of them said since the SLPP government came to power they had been promising to reconstruct that road, but they have failed thereby causing them to lose confidence in the SLPP government.
An angry resident Salamatu said they thought the construction that is going on now would have started at Lumley rather than Tokeh. She said most of the people don’t believe that the work is ongoing as the work is still far from Goderich.
She said they are really suffering because most of the commercial vehicles have stopped plying that route.
Salamatu stressed that SLPP have two ministers Dr Dennis Bright and Bobson Sesay who stay in the Goderich area but they have failed to convince the people that the project was on and that they should be patient as the construction work will soon reach Goderich.
Another resident Samuel told Awoko that they would have voted for Pastor Chambers if he had contested the elections as an Independent candidate, because he had done a lot for them, but because he decided to contest the elections under SLPP that was why he lost.
He said the people of York Constituency are fed up with SLPP and they will go for a change. When asked about the APC leader who to is residing at Goderich, Samuel said he too is suffering because he is not in control, but if he wins and fail to meet their needs, they will do the same to his party next elections.
Taxi driver Brima who was at MMCE junction said he is now finding it very had to survive as his cab is now grounded because of the cost of repairs.
Brima said the Lumley road reminded him of the Port Loko Kambia road.  He said the city should not have such roads but because the present government refused to pay attention to that road that is why they were overwhelmed by APC in the current elections.
