The new Premier League Board Chairman Victor Lewis has told the Press in his first Press briefing at the Football Association at Kingtom that they are going to have a two leg league instead of one.
He said they called the press briefing to give an update of what has happened within the 48 hours that they have taken up office. He stated that they were able to secure a loan from the acting President of the Football Association Joseph J. S. Kelefa to the tune of 10 thousand Euros to resume the league.
The money he said will be paid back to the acting president as soon as they secure sponsorship to run the league. He said the first thing they did with the money was to try to see that the Board will be able to pay its outstanding debt of forty four Million Leones (Le44 000,000) owed by the former Board which the past Board was unable to pay, as that was the reason why the league was halted.
He said they have made a first payment to the Stadium Management of twenty two Million Leones (Le 22,000,000) and the second payment will be made on 29th February 2012 which is seven Million Leones (Le7, 000,000)
On 31st March he said they will be paying another seven million Leones (Le7, 000,000) and the final part of the money which is eight Million Leones (Le 8,000,000) will be paid on 30th April 2012.
The PLB Chairman also stated that before any match is held at the main bowl an immediate payment of five hundred thousand Leones should be paid by the Board if the match is to be played in the afternoon and if both teams arrange to play the match in the night each team will be paid two hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le250, 000) for light.
The Board Chairman Victor Lewis also disclosed that at the end of the match the host team will receive 70 percent while the other 30 percent will be shared among NRA, the Board and the Regional body.
He went further that they are going strictly by the foundation of the past Board and teams are going to receive their seed money.
At its inaugural meeting on Wednesday 11th January 2012 the following announcements were made, that the PLB acknowledges and appreciates the good work put into the process of kick-starting the Premier League 2011-2012 on Wednesday, 14th December 2011.
