Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – The Western Area Rural District Football Association (WARDFA) has announced the suspension of all football competitions in the district. Mohamed Polo Bangura, Head of Competition at WARDFA, attributed the decision to the nationwide curfew imposed by the government to ensure public safety.
WARDFA emphasized that the suspension would remain indefinite until further notice, with constant communication maintained with relevant authorities for updates. The association expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of football clubs, administrators, league organizers, and fans, urging everyone to prioritize safety during these challenging times.
As Sierra Leone faces disruptions in sporting events due to the prevailing situation, sports enthusiasts and administrators are encouraged to exercise patience and maintain peace in their communities, with hopes for a stronger return to normalcy. BT/28/11/2023
