The Deputy Chair of the Western Area Rural District Council (WARDC), Roberts Brown, said they are committed to supporting and promoting athletics and sports. He gave Le5 million to the Waterloo Athletics camp to enable them to compete during the Boxing Day sports at the National Stadium. Deputy Brown said the government has sent funds through the Council for the development of sports. He said the District has produced some sportsmen for country and called on the athletes to maintain good records. District Sports Officer, Alimamy Fofanah, said the government is ready to support young people who have decided to choose sports as their career and therefore call on the young guys to make good use of their talents. Abubakarr Kamara, Head of Waterloo Camp thanked the government and the Council. He said the Camp wanted to participate in the Boxing Day annual event but they did not have the money. According to Ishmael Sesay, because of the boost from Council they were able to create a serious impact at the sport meet.
