The West African Football Union, (WAFU) Women’s Football Championship, which was suspended indefinitely, is expected to start
November 2nd this year.
The West African sub region female championship was earlier slated for August but it was suspended by the organizers due to
lack of funds.
WAFU is said to have written to all the football federations in the sub region to convey the new date for the championship.
The technical team of the Sierra Leone national team, Sierra Queens is expected to call the team back to camp to resume
training.
Competing in this tournament would mark the return of Sierra Queens to female football internationally after over six years.
Sierra Leone is placed in group B alongside Ghana, Mali and Tanzania. Hosts, Nigeria, Guinea, Senegal and The Gambia are all
placed in Group A.
