The Vice President Samuel Sam-Sumana during his latest visit to Kono took time to appeal to the people of the district to come out in their numbers to register when the Biometric Voter Registration exercise commences in earnest. He made this call at the Fachima hall in Koidu City.
In his statement, VP Sumana said it is only when they register as voters would be qualified to vote in the November elections. He said the November election was crucial in that it gives Sierra Leoneans the opportunity to vote for continuity of President Koroma and his ‘Agenda for Change” which he noted is transforming Sierra Leoene.
He informed the people also that the voting pattern this time round will be for the President, Members of Parliament, Mayors/Chairmen and Councilors.
He therefore called on all the people of the district who have attained the age of 18 and above to come out to register.
He said this is not a matter of APC, SLPP, PMDC or NDA, but a way of guaranteeing their constitutional and fundamental human rights to exercise their rights to chose who are to lead them.
Chief Sam Sumana also appealed to religious leaders to use their pulpits to educate their jamaats and congregations about the need for them to register, and civil society organizations to educate the people about the biometric registration system.
The District chairperson Finda Diana Konomanyi in her statement strongly supported the call of the VP. She said if Kono is to have a landslide victory for the APC, the people must register as a first step to achieve that goal.
The Local Unit Commander at the Tankoro Division assured the people of security throughout the process.
