Principals of Islamic Secondary Schools in the Western Area have formed a National Union of Islamic Secondary Schools at a well attended meeting at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School, Kissy Dockyard on Saturday.
The Principal of King Fahad Islamic Junior Secondary School Ayouba R.Sesay was elected chairman of the Union while Mohamed Salieu Mansaray as vice chairman. Abu Thoronka, the Principal of the Muslim Brotherhood Secondary School was elected as Secretary General with the Principal of Ahmadiyya Muslim Junior Secondary, Kabiru Ibrahim Mansaray serving as Assistant Secretary General.
The position of treasurer and financial secretary went to the principal of Kankalay Islamic Girls Madam Salamatu Koroma. Abdul Karim Sesay, the Principal of Ahmadiyya Muslim Senior Secondary was elected Public Relations Officer and Organizing Secretary and Alhaji Tombo Kamanoh of Ansarul Islamic Secondary School as adviser.Outlining the reasons for the formation of the union, the interim chairman maintained that it was as a result of a meeting held last year between a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and principals of Islamic secondary schools in Freetown.
