A total of three unexploded bombs have been discovered in the northern district of Port Loko barely two months after the discovery of anti-aircraft ammunition by some students.
The bombs were discovered in an abandoned toilet at the Falaba Road, Police Barracks, by the wife of a police officer early this week. According to the officer commanding OSD personnel at the Port Loko Police Station, Inspector Foday Dumbuya, the bombs were meant for artillery weapons. He said despite the unexploded bombs appeared old, yet they remained quite dangerous and posed a threat to the people.
Inspector Foday Dumbuya said the bombs had been kept in the armoury waiting for army engineers from the 15 battalion, Lungi, to detonate them.
A thorough search has been ordered by the officer in all former occupied areas by ECOMOG and UN.
