The outgoing United Nations Resident Coordinator in Sierra Leone, Mr. Sunil Saigal, has bidded farewell to the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Francis Kai-Kai, after doing the same to President Bio. Mr. Saigal who has been in the country for a little over four years commended Sierra Leone’s achievements, especially in good governance and socioeconomic transformation. He said the country is a land of opportunities and is confident the government of President Julius Maada Bio would continue to seize the opportunities.
The outgoing UN Coordinator hailed the existing partnership between the UN and Sierra Leone, especially through the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development. In his statement, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Francis KaiKai said the UN Resident Coordinator is a friend of Sierra Leone and commended his contributions to the development of the country.
“The President already congratulated him for the good work in Sierra Leone on our behalf, but courtesy demands that he still comes to the parent Ministry to bid farewell. We have been working very closely and collaborated greatly to foster the development aspirations of this government and we hope that we would continue to work closely with your successor,” Dr. Kai-Kai said.
The Minister described Mr. Saigal as a leader that successfully coordinated the UN system to support government initiatives.
