His Excellency the Vice President Samuel Sam – Sumana yesterday met with the British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone Sarah Mackintosh in his office at State House to re-affirm Britain’s total support to the newly elected All People’s Congress (APC) government development agenda.
Speaking to the Vice President, Sarah Mackintosh said her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the people of Britain have registered their commitment to the new government and people of Sierra Leone in achieving their set priorities.
In a release issued from the office of the Vice President yesterday, it stated that Britain has a larger United Kingdom Team in the country helping the government in several areas.
The British High Commissioner said according to the release that she would want the country team to continue working in close partnership with the Vice President and the entire government and people of Sierra Leone.
Vice President Sumana in turn thanked the British High Commissioner and the British people on behalf of President Ernest Koroma, for Britain’s cooperation in consolidating the peace in Sierra Leone.
The release went on to state that, Vice President Sam-Sumana highlighted numerous contributions Britain has made to this country from the time of independence, to gaining republican status; the period of upheaval in the country, and even during the period of peace.
Britain the release states has helped to improve standards in several areas through the involvement of DFID and other organizations which are funded by Britain.
The release maintained that VP Sumana informed Mackintosh that as a new government they were looking forward to working with Britain.
