As part of its corporate social responsibility in contributing towards the socio economic development of Sierra Leone the United Bank of Africa UBA over the weekend handed over a $2,000 cheque to Fatmata H. Sesay the Head of Treasury at NASSIT to proceed on a two day conference to Nigeria.
Before presenting the cheque to her the head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management Manja Kargbo Abdulai said they have deemed it necessary to contribute in their own way towards building the capacity of Madam Fatmata Sesay of NASSIT so as to gain from expatriates out there and use whatever knowledge acquired there towards stabilizing our national economy in Sierra Leone.
She pointed out that the Euro finance is an economic group company and thought leader in cash treasury and risk management events and she will be participating in the conference in Lagos Nigeria on the 10th and 11 February, 2009.
She said the event is the second annual conference to be organized by Euro finance in the region with the theme: “Don’t look back! Focus on the future of treasury in West Africa”
She noted that the two day conference is a great opportunity for organizations to learn about global and regional trends in functional and state-of-the-art market products and services available in West Africa.
She concluded that the conference would enable industry experts and innovators share their insights on the way forward in treasury and risk management in West Africa.
The Head of wholesale banking at UBA Harold Macarthy stressed the importance of the conference as West Africa is not exempted from the global financial crisis explaining that experts would meet together at that conference to strategize on a plan to combat it.
In appreciating the gesture the beneficiary Fatmata Sesay explained that the global financial crisis in a big threat to global finances and therefore needed to be addressed, adding that she would not only represent NASSIT or UBA but Sierra Leone as a whole.
