The United Bank of Africa yesterday commemorated ‘Africa day’ at their headquarters office in Freetown in remembrance of the formation and existence of the Organization of all African Unity.
The commemoration which started with a display of African talents by the Sierra Leone dancing troops and a showcase of African attire by staff members of that bank was climaxed by an African dinner for all African Diplomats in Sierra Leone.
The celebration of ‘Africa day’ seems to be new in Sierra Leone as many onlookers and by passers were very curious to know what the whole celebration was about, but the head of Corporate Communications and Brand Manager Manja Kargbo-Abdulai said UBA is an African global bank and therefore feel obliged to observe this day giving the fact that they operate in some 18 African countries and else where in the world where they have contributed tremendously to their economies.
As the celebration was in progress yesterday, the usual bank transactions and services to customers were going on uninterrupted.
