The United Arab Emirates Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said prompt assistance was required to Sierra Leone by all means.
The Foreign Minister yesterday paid a visit to the country and at a Press conference at State House,said he was impressed with the fantastic job in Sierra Leone where he said the people have once again come together in peace.
Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan led a 23 man delegation comprised of Government Ministers, humanitarian groups and investors. The prompt assistance to be provided he said would be in the area of finance, expertise and energy. “These are the things we could do immediately and look at opportunities in investing in the private sector and the long term assistance would be in food security” he said.
He promised his Government’s desire to provide suitable aid to Sierra Leone as he described the country as a “beautiful country with nice people and UAE will prove that they are a friend”.
The UAE foreign Minister, upon his arrival yesterday, met with President Koroma where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them in various fields.
His visit, according to the Sierra Leone Foreign Ministry was due to extensive efforts done by the foreign Ministry and the Trade Ministry with the substantial efforts of the trade Commissioners of Sierra Leone in the Gulf Cooperation Council.
