The U-17 squad which will engage the Gambia U-17 squad next month in the U-17 competition is expected to play a friendly match with the Guinea U-17 squad in preparation for this all important encounter.
The team manager of the U-17 squad Victor Lewis said that an advance party will be going to Guinea to finalize the arrangement for the friendly match to know if the Guinean U-17 squad is coming to Sierra Leone or the Sierra Leone U-17 squad will be going to Guinea.
All this will be discussed with the advance party before they return back home but meanwhile the team will tour the provinces from next weekend playing a series of friendly matches
The team will storm the Northern Province next week and the following weekend they will storm the Eastern and Southern province.
All these friendly matches are to build the team for their international encounter and to get the players in good fitness for the match.
He went further that they are going to play their opponent as if they do not know anything about the match which is going to be a very difficult one because their opponents have been under-going several friendly matches outside the country to strengthen their squad.
He mentioned that the Gambian government is paying serious attention to the U-17 squad as this is where their strength lies and these players in the squad will be representing the national team in the future
He also appealed to the players yesterday after training that they should not involve in any kind of mini leagues around the country as they have a serious international assignment before next month.
Any players caught playing in such leagues will be removed from the squad as these leagues are where some of these players get injury and at the end affect the country because the player will not be able to perform during the match.
All of this must stop he said and warned that the players need to put the country first if they want to achieve their goals during international assignment.
