Two of Sierra Leone’s football teams, defending Champions of the 2010/2011 Africell Premier League, Ports Authority FC and Runners up, FC Kallon will this weekend engage in separate international encounters at home and away respectively.
Both matches are expected to be played on Saturday, 3rd March and Sunday, 4th March respectively. At home, at the National Stadium on Saturday, FC Kallon will host Union de Duala of Cameroon in the second leg of the CAF Confederation Cup after losing the first leg two weeks ago in Duala Cameroon.
On the same Saturday in Guinea, Ports Authority will play away to Guinea’s Horoya Atletico in the CAF Champions league in a second leg encounter after a goalless draw at the National Stadium in the first leg match.
Speaking to Awoko Sports, coaches of both teams have said they are up to the task to eliminate their opponents, even though it is not going to be an easy task. They have both assured football fans that by the end of the 90thminutes encounters they are going to bring glory to the country by proceeding to the next round.
They both appreciate the gallantry of their opponents, whom they noted have got “high experiences in international competitions.”
The FC Kallon Coach specifically called on Sierra Leoneans to come out in their numbers to give moral support to the team as they are playing at home.
Meanwhile, Ports Authority departed yesterday Thursday, March 1st 2012 for Guinea with a 30-man delegation comprising 20 players and 10 officials. The team is expected back on Monday, March 5th 2012.
The FC Kallon opponent, Union de Duala of Cameroon was expected in town yesterday, March 1st with a 25-man delegation and both clubs were expected to hold a joint press conference today Friday, March 2nd 2012 at the FC Kallon headquarters at Charlotte Street.
