The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and detained Prince Sylvanus Parker and Samuel K.Huggins Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sport on the 5th April this year.
A release from the Public Relations Officer of the ACC states that they were tipped off that a cheque with the face value of eighty nine million six hundred and eighteen thousand seven hundred and twenty eight thousand Leones (Le89,618, 728,00) that was in the name of the Permanent Secretary for 2003 salary arrears for staff of the Ministry of Youths and Sports.
Acting upon the investigation that these public officials were misusing public funds, the commission sent some investigators to the Bank where the said cheque was to be encashed and arrested Prince Sylvanus Parker with the sum of eight nine million Leones (Le89,000,000,000).
The two suspects Messer Parker and Huggins who are presently in the custody of the ACC were investigated by the Commission and the report has been forwarded to the Attorney General for onward prosecution.
