Two Asian cricketers, Raj Parsad and Usmau Kashmir may be part of the National cricket team which may take part in the North West Africa cricket tournament in Nigeria and South Africa, both slated for April this year.
This was disclosed to Awoko Sports by the public relation officer of the association Bockarie Allieu who noted that their documents will soon be completed to give them the green light to play for Sierra Leone.
He mentioned that inclusion of the two Asians into the national cricket team will be a big boost to the Sierra Leone cricket team
He mentioned that Sierra Leone is not the only country which has naturalized players that have taken part in international cricket competitions
Allieu also disclosed that final selection of 18 players will be announced tomorrow at the cricket oval at Kingtom to continue intensive training and the final 13 players will be selected some weeks later.
He noted that the team is expected to depart the shores of Sierra Leone on 1st April for Nigeria and later go to South Africa.
He mentioned that the Sierra Leone Cricket Association (SLCA) assessment matches has taken momentum at the cricket oval at Kingtom
In the fourth assessment matches played this weekend, team A won by 4 wickets. Team B was the first to take the crease and they made 151 runs for 7 wickets in 40 overs
Abu Bakarr Kamara made 50 runs, Mustapha Kallon made 26 runs, George Kpundeh made 21 runs and Mohamed Boye Kamara made 15 runs.
When team B took the crease they replied with 154 runs for 4 wickets in 31.4 overs Lansana Lamin made 56 runs, Raj made 28 runs, Desmond Coker made 24 runs and Luseine Senesie made 17 runs.
Gabriel Anthony and Mustapha Kallon had two wickets each of their side.
The final assessment match will be played today at the cricket oval at Kingtom.
