The Town Chief of Komende Gaytiwalo in the Lower Bambara Chiefdom Kenema District Musa Kamanda has called on the Central and Local government, International and Local NGOs operating in the Kenema District to improve on the road network in their community.
Musa Kamanda made this appeal at a Press conference recently. He said Komende is among the list of the highest cocoa, coffee and cola nuts producing communities in Kenema District therefore they need good roads to link it up with nearby towns and cities. The Chief explained that the deplorable road condition leading to Komende Getiwalo and its immediate environs in the Chiefdom are a source of embarrassment to its inhabitants especially farmers dealing with perishable goods such as vegetables.
Chief Musa Kamanda disclosed that since the construction of the road linking Komende and Saama village through a self help project 40 years ago no institution including the Kenema District Council have attempted to improve on the road.
He said the Komende Saama Road is in a bad state and described it as a death trap thus exposing passengers travelling in and out of the settlement to the mercy of commercial bike riders. The Town Chief called on the Central and Local government authorities to provide them with the technical and material support which will foster economic and infrastructural development in their area.
