Freetown, SIERRA LEONE – Tour De Lunsar is gearing up for its milestone 10th edition, set to captivate cycling enthusiasts from April 18th to 21st, 2024. CEO Abdul Karim Kamara has unveiled the exhilarating details of this eagerly anticipated event.
The highlight of the tour will be the junior men’s race, covering a challenging 75.6 kilometers. Riders will navigate through ten laps of the Lunsar criterium course before embarking on a journey to Rogberi (Gbere) Junction and back to Lunsar. The race will culminate with an intense six-lap finale on the criterium circuit.
Kamara emphasized the strict enforcement of the junior age group category, ensuring that participants are 19 years old or younger on the race day. Registration officials will diligently verify age, requesting ID cards or equivalent documentation to maintain the integrity of the competition.
For the women’s race, Stage One on April 20th will see cyclists traversing from Lunsar to Port Loko, venturing through the town and the hydro-electric dam road before returning to the starting point. The following day, Stage Two will feature a thrilling 20-lap criterium spanning 50 kilometers, promising an electrifying display of skill and speed.
Men’s Stage One, scheduled for April 19th, will take riders on a challenging route to Mile 38 beyond Masiaka, with a demanding climb at Okra Hill and an intermediate sprint at Masiaka roundabout. Stage Two on April 20th will lead cyclists to Makeni before the return journey to Lunsar, featuring an intermediate sprint at Masongbo and a formidable climb at Communications Pole before Royanka.
The grand finale for the men, Stage Three on April 21st, will feature a gripping 30-lap criterium around the central Lunsar circuit, promising adrenaline-pumping action with no intermediate points.
