The town chief of the largest rice farming area Chief
Mustapha Ngombu has appealed for good road network.
Making his appeal through Awoko on Tuesday at Torma Bum, he said that rice farming and food security shall only be achieved if the roads leading to efficient rice production areas are constructed.
He complained that the road network from Koribondo all the way to Torma Bum was deplorable with bridges at the brink of collapse. The chief expressed fear that if bridges linking to his chiefdom collapses it will greatly cause setbacks in the current rice production drive especially in his chiefdom. Chief Mustapha further told Awoko that Torma Bum suffered greatly after the war in the area of rice production “ but now that farming has started and two groups: Ahhajar and Fuladu Companies are undertaking rice production, we appeal to government for support especially in the area of road construction.“ The chief further explained that the farmers at Torma Bum were being supported by the farming companies in the area of seedling which they refund after harvest. He however welcomed the news for the construction of a junior secondary school and
stressed that the only path to development in Torma Bum is good road network.
