Thieves last Tuesday night broke into offices at the Islamic Secondary located along Hotagua Street in Shembeck section in Kenema and went away with some school materials. Speaking to Awoko the Principal of the Junior Secondary School Mr. A.R.Ansumana explained that the thieves removed one of the corrugated iron sheet (zinc) from the back of the Administrative building and slit open the cellotex ceiling to gain entrance into one of the main offices where they took away a computer that belongs to the Vice Principal of the school Mr. M.A.R. Konneh. He said the computer was on the table in the center of the office, the thieves took away the computer and some soft ware plates and other materials leaving the census computer that was on the floor under one of the tables in the office.
The national teacher’s verification and school census exercise started on Monday 11th with eleven centers in the Kenema district, and Kenema city is hosting three centers in three wards namely Methodist Secondary school campus, Government secondary school campus and the Islamic secondary school campus. The verification materials are being kept at the various school campuses of which the affected Islamic Secondary School is one. One of the teachers who went for verification the other day remarked that the whole exercise at the center should have been interrupted if the thieves would have gone away with the verification computer.
The matter has since been reported to the police who visited the scene and took some snap shots of the place.
They are now calling on the public to provide then with information that will lead to the discovery of the stolen items.
