Following rumors on the electricity blackout, the boss of Karpowership Kenan Bolat has said the temporal removal and disconnection of Karadeniz Powership Dogan Bey will in no way interrupt the constant supply of electricity to the capital city of Freetown. The Karadeniz Powership Dogan Bey has been disconnected two weeks ago, and since then there has been no interruption in the supply of electricity. “During this removal period, I want to admonish the general public of continuous, adequate power supply, because the second Powership is fully operational from Cline Town.”

He said Karpowership has a contract with Sierra Leone government and will continue to honour the contract, telling the people of Sierra Leone that they should have no fear and that the supply of electricity is still intact, adding that since the disconnection of Karadeniz Dogan Bey ship, the other ship Karadeniz Goktay Bey has been fully operational from Cline Town, adjacent the Oil Refinery Site at Kissy. Furthermore, our sources have stated that Karadeniz Powership Goktay Bey which has been operational since March this year will continue to supply uninterrupted electricity to the people of Sierra Leone. Bolat assured Sierra Leoneans that the Powership which has already left the shores of Sierra Leone will definitely come back in December this year and will continue operation as soon as it arrives. He said that the removal and disconnection of the Karadeniz Powership Dogan Bey will help in the cost optimization, adding that Bumbuna Hydro electricity has already commenced operations and that it will not be in the best interest of country if the Karadeniz Powership Dogan Bey continues to supply electricity whilst Bumbuna Hydro is on.
