The Sierra Leone amadassdor to Liberia, Patrick Foyah, said the ECOWAS peace cycling tour was designed to foster peace among the Mano River Union countries.
He made this statement when he was addressing the Sierra Leone delegation at the Sierra Leone embassy in Liberia when the team presented trophies to the Sierra Leonean envoy.
Amadassdor Foyah said he was very proud of the cycling team for the superb performance they demonstrated during the one-day competition.
He noted that such an event amongst the three neighbouring countries was significant “if we are to live in peace as one people”.
Amadassdor Foyah said the cyclists should see this annual event organized by ECOWAS as an opportunity for them to forget about violence and think about peace and as “a way to put our differences aside and not to be used by politicians.”
He noted that during the one-day competition there were winners and losers but the most important thing was peace and reconciliation and at the end of the tour every body were all winners
