TGS has announced plans to begin 3D seismic runs offshore Sierra Leone in the next few days. The survey is targeted at the Sierra Leone segment of the West African transform margin.
Using the geological survey ship M/V GeoCarribean, the acquisition of multi-client data will cover 2,535 sq km (979 sq mi) offshore Sierra Leone.
After processing the data is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2012.
TGS/NOPEC conducted the first seismic survey offshore Sierra Leone and their findings which showed strong potentials of commercial deposits of crude oil led to the lease of the first oil blocks.
