With the present ongoing nomination for qualification for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) symbol for this year’s parliamentary and presidential elections, two female contestants have locked horns.
Novo Kaikai, the wife of Septimus Kaikai’s younger brother, and Mamie Foya who is the wife of Sierra Leone’s ambassador to Liberia are seriously at war over who should be given the SLPP symbol for Kailahun Central.
This is said to have split the SLPP as Novo Kaikai is tracing her roots to the current Paramount Chief PC Mohamed Banya and Dr. Sama Banya, while Mamie Foya is hooked to ambassador.
On a recent visit to Kailahun by Vice President Solomon Berewa, supporters of the two contestants made representations to him and other national party bigheads for possible support.
SLPP Kailahun District Chairman, Sahr Gevao, said the battle had just begun as there were seven contestants for that same constituency.
