A School teacher at St. Helena School, Sulaiman Bob Conteh of No 20 E Elizabeth Road, Kissy Dockyard, appeared before Magistrate J.O. Wellington of Magistrate Court No 2 on Saturday 13th August, on a three-count charge of alleged rape of a 13 year-old pupil of his class.
On count 1, he is charged with abuse of young girl, on count (2 he is charged with indecent assault and on count (3 for cruelty to children.
The alleged incident according to the charge sheet occurred on 15th July 2011.
In her evidence in court on Saturday, the victim explained her ordeal, saying that the teacher invited her to his home and she went there.
She testified that upon her arrival, the class teacher gave her a warm welcome and she sat down thinking what the teacher had to say to her.
A few minutes later he came close to her and started making advances, but that she did not respond as she was afraid, surprised and thought it was all a dream.
Later the teacher stood up with a very tight face and asked her to make love with him but she refused and before she knew what was happening, he forced his way through her while she was struggling to escape and at the same time crying for help, but to no avail.
Finally, she said, she became helpless as she had lost all her strength and all she could do was to cry; she cried and cried for help or rescue to no avail,
She further told the court that after the unfortunate incident, she ran to her Aunt who is also a teacher at the St. Helena Secondary School and explained all that happened and without wasting time the aunt reported the matter to the Police.
The accused is presently at the Pademba Road Prisons awaiting his bail conditions of fifty million and two sureties in the same sum to be met. One of the sureties must be a property owner in Freetown and should surrender his title deeds to the Consultant Master and Registrar.
