Reports filtering into Kenema City from Ngeiwahun Town in the Ngeiwoma Section of Tunkia Chiefdom in Kenema District state that several dwelling houses and a mosque were destroyed by storm past Monday. Speaking to the press in Kenema City Mohamed Kein an employee of the Sierra Leone Road Authority (SLRA) said the storm followed by a heavy downpour of rain took place in the evening hours of last week Monday and lasted for about an hour and destroyed over 30 dwelling houses, toilets and kitchen and property worth millions of Leones. Kein also said Ngeiwahun was fairly a big town with approximately over 100 houses and that the destruction of over 30 dwelling houses and other structures was a big loss. He called on government and NGOs to immediately come to their aid by providing them with temporary structures now that the raining season is around. He also said most of the houses destroyed are owned by even his own family. He stated that there has not been any humanitarian intervention but a delegation which included some Police and Military Officers has visited the town.
