The town chief of Nyandehun village, Luawa chiefdom in the Kailahun district, is at present lamenting the destruction of 22 houses by storm on Saturday.
According to the councillor of that ward, Gibrila Sannoh, a heavy storm started around 7:15 pm followed by heavy rain which subsequently resulted in the destruction of the houses of which 15 were completely destroyed, and seven others unroofed.
Most of these houses, according to the town chief Gbessay Sartie, were build by World Relief as part of the resettlement package for returnees and displaced people between 2002 and 2003. It is believed that over 3000 houses were constructed by World Relief in Nyandehun village out of which only 120 houses are in used.
