St Anthony Junior Secondary School for Girls has won this year’s Western Area Inter-secondary school athletics competition in the junior girls category at the National Stadium in Freetown.
After the three-day competition, they scored 66 points to defeat the defending champion Ansarul to second position with 63 points, and in third position was Ahmadiyya with 57 points.
In the junior boys category it was a win for Ahmadiyya with 107 points. In second position was Ansarul with 69 points and in third position was SLMU with 67 points.
In the senior categories for boys and girls it was dominated by Ahmadiyya who won both trophies.
In the senior secondary school for girls, it was a win for Ahmadiyya with 87 points. In second position was the defending champion Government Rokel Secondary School with 82 points. And in third position was Ansarul with 68 points.
In the Senior Boys category it was also a win for Ahmadiyya with a total of 116 points and most of the relays were won by Ahmadiyya in grand style.
The deputy minister of Education Youth and Sports who is in charge of sports, Dr Algassimu Jah, in his statement before the distribution of trophies said they had accomplished their goal by organizing a peaceful sport meeting.
He mentioned that they were able to achieve their goal because they worked as a team, and advised students to abstain from violence.
