Sports Life International Ministry has commenced the International Sports Leadership Training (ISLT) Level One on Monday, March 5th 2012 at their head office at 71 Solider Street in Freetown.
Speaking to the press about the training, Founder of the Ministry, Pastor Yatta Samura said the training is very important in that it will provide the participants the opportunity to learn the basics in sports ministry.
He disclosed that several topics will be dealt with during the five-day training including sports and Bible, the values of the ISC, partnership, and leadership; team building and host of other topics.
He went on to mention that the Level One training is conducted locally while the Level Two training is conducted regionally in Ghana for English speaking countries. The Level Three is done globally in South Africa were Sports Ministries the world over, send at least a member on a yearly basis for training.
Pastor Samura revealed that at least 15 people from Sierra Leone have attended the Level Two training in Ghana, while about five people have gone through the Level Three training in South Africa.
During the opening ceremony, Pastor Samura said that 93% of the world’s population are in a sport which is why “sport is a universal language,” he noted, adding that because of the popularity of sport, the church is not staying behind to use it as part of programmes.
The Country Representative, Ibrahim Okon Koroma explained the different sporting programmes that are organized by Sports Life Ministry, while John Victor Konneh, who is in charge of training, explained the importance of the training. The training ends on Friday, March 9 2012 with certification ceremony.
